Combining storytelling and drama, this show asks its audience to judge to decide whether the actors are spinning a yarn or telling it like it was. Its short stories and plays vary in length from half a minute to ten minutes, and after each item the audience votes on its truth. Usually, the reward for a good judgement is honour, but sometimes there’s a prize for the first person with a correct answer.
Developed in 2013, the first draft was tested in May at a development workshop organized by Spaniel in the Works in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The first production was on October 11 and 12 at the Playhouse Theatre, Cheltenham. It includes writing from four Cheltenham-area writers: Natalia Colthurst, Peter Green, Phil Jones, and myself.
That first performance was in a double bill with In Tune With Dementia.
